General information about the Glasair 1 series

The American companies Stoddard-Hamilton Aircraft and Glasair Aviation have designed and sold the Glasair 1. The first flight was pulled forward in 1979, the market entry followed in 1980. It was built a total of 807 pieces of the model. The aircraft was the first kit aircraft to have an improved surface, rather than Rutan construction. The design and the production took a lot of time. The first company, Stoddard-Hamilton Aircraft, went into liquidation. The Glasair 1 is a fast long-haul aircraft with a fixed trike (FT). Likewise, the machine has a Traildragger version (TD) and a Einfahrhilfe (RG). In addition, wing extensions are possible. This improves the performance of the machine at a higher altitude. It is made of fiberglass and is known for its single-walled airflow characteristics.

The top speed touches at 418 kilometers per hour and the cruising speed drops to 324 kilometers per hour. The maximal service ceiling is 5,800 meters.
