General information about the Diamond Star

The Diamond Star is a light aircraft of the Austrian manufacturer Diamond Aircraft. She had her first flight on 5 November 1997 and has been producing since 2000. This production takes place in Zeigwerk in Canada. The machine is primarily made of fiber-reinforced plastic, which is known above all for its economy. Mainly we used the Diamond Star for training purposes, as well as for the training of private and professional pilots. On request, the aircraft can also be delivered with a Garmin G1000 glass cockpit. It can also be used for self-guided flights, night flights and instrument flights. This varies depending on the equipment. The machine can alternatively be supplied with a diesel engine. This version is also called DA 40 D and is known for its sustainable consumption. On April 8, 2010, another version, the DA 40 NG, was certified by EASA. NG stands for New Generation. This model has an AE300 engine.

The Diamond Star is 8.01 meters long and 1.97 meters high. The span is 11.94 meters with a wing area of 13.54 square meters. The maximum take-off weight is 1,150 kilograms and equals the maximum landing weight. The tank is 106 liters. The Diamond Star reaches a speed of 330 kilometers per hour and has a range of 2,006 kilometers. The maximal service ceiling of the machine is 4,999 meters.
