Cessna 150 / 152 Series

General information about the Cessna 150/152

The Cessna 150 and the Cessna 152 are light aircraft of the US manufacturer Cessna. The machine has sloped shoulder guards and is generally used for training purposes. She had her maiden flight on September 12, 1957. In the same year she was approved by the FAA. In the period from 1957 to 1985, 31,533 pieces of the Cessna 150 and Cessna 152 were built. The aircraft was developed as a successor to the Cessna 140. It is one of the most built and popular models in aircraft history. In 1966, a polished rudder was installed in the machine, which extended the aircraft by 68.5 centimeters, but had poorer flight characteristics. Despite this property, the company retained these, based on customer needs. In 1970 the variant Aerobat was introduced. This is especially suitable for aerobatics. It has two small windows in the cockpit roof and a reinforced structure. It also has four-point belts and a self-unloading device for both doors. In 1977, the Cessna 150 was replaced by the Cessna 152. The externally similar machine has a cheaper engine and flaps that can be extended to 40 degrees. The last Cessna 152 was made in 1985. From the Cessna 150 a total of 23,949 copies were produced. Of these, 1,079 were the model Aerobat. The Cessna 152 produced 7,584 pieces, of which 75 percent are still in use. The successor of these models is the Cessna 162. Militarily, this model is also used. Countries include: United States, Burundi, Haiti, Somalia, Mexico or Paraguay. Since these machines have relatively low operating costs and very decent flying characteristics, they are often used for training purposes. Generations of pilots have completed their first flight lessons with the Cessna 150 or the Cessna 152. A model with history! Michel Lotito completely consumed a Cessna 150 after it was crushed into bite-sized bites.
