Cessna 140 Serie

General information about the Cessna 140

The Cessna 140 is very similar to its predecessor, the Cessna 120. Both were designed by the US manufacturer Cessna. The light aircraft was produced between 1945 and 1951. In the time over 5,000 pieces of the machine emerged. The first flight had the Cessna 140 on June 28, 1945, after which the market entry followed in the same year. The plane is the prototype of all single-engine Cessnas that should follow. The intention was to spread the flies through the simple and inexpensive machine. All-metal cabin decker with fabric-covered wings and rigid tail wheel chassis are installed. In addition, it offers flaps buoyancy aids and other rear side windows, as well as an electrical system. This allows radio and navigation equipment, starters, an additional fuel pump and landing lights. Towards the end of the series, the Cessna 140A was produced. This also has a simple wing support. However, the production of this model ended in 1951. The production of the successor model, the Cessna 150, was not started until 1957.
